Carlyle C. Ring, Jr.
Experience
Carlyle Conwell (“Connie”) Ring, Jr., an experienced commercial law attorney with the Business and Intellectual Property Groups at Ober|Kaler, handles the negotiation and documentation of commercial agreements for the purchase and sale of goods and services, the preparation of standard terms and general business transactions.
Connie has participated in the drafting of the payment system Articles of the Uniform Commercial Code. He serves on the UCC Permanent Editorial Board with oversight of revisions to the Code and preparation of commentaries on the Code. He has been a frequent speaker and writer on e-commerce and internet transactions. Connie has been retained as an expert on UCC and e-commerce law, and in two recent litigated cases provided the expertise that resulted in seven figure judgments.
As General Counsel for a defense contractor for a number of years, Connie negotiated and assisted in the preparation of contract bids, and filed and processed bid protests and disputes under government contracts. Connie negotiates and advises on bids for contracts, processes claims and handles dispute resolution. Connie also handles environmental law issues, including the negotiation of agreements, voluntary remediation, and consent orders with state environmental agencies and the EPA.
In the estate planning arena, he handles wills, trusts and administration of estates in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Active in numerous civic and professional organizations, Connie has been listed in The Best Lawyers of America since 2001. He is also the author of many articles on matters pertaining to e-Commerce, the Internet, funds transfer and payment systems issues, and other topics of high priority to those doing business in today’s digital economy.
