Harold G. Belkowitz
Experience
Harold G. Belkowitz is an accomplished Ober|Kaler litigator and a principal in the firm’s Litigation, Creditors' Rights, Workouts and Bankruptcy, and Employment Groups. While the core of his practice is focused on representing financial institutions in creditors’ rights matters, he also represents both large and small companies in employment and business disputes. In addition to his work at Ober|Kaler, Harold serves as a commissioner on the Fairfax County, Va., Consumer Protection Commission.
Harold has also represented individuals and businesses in estate and trust disputes, including enforcement of creditor claims, in District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia courts.
Clients in financial services industry seek Harold’s counsel in the defense of statutory and common law consumer lending claims; title disputes; enforcement of commercial loan documentation, financing agreements, security agreements and leases; bankruptcy disputes and other issues involving creditors’ rights.
In the labor and employment arena, Harold handles a wide range of matters including claims related to employee defection, recruitment, wrongful discharge, discrimination, wage/hour disputes, employee contract and compensation, non-competition and trade secret agreements.
In addition to litigation representation, Harold guides clients in alternative dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation proceedings. He is on the approved arbitrator roster of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States.
