Senior Corporate Attorney Brings In-House Counsel Experience as well as Bank Regulatory Expertise
Mr. Campbell brings to Ober|Kaler over 25 years’ experience representing banks, thrifts, holding companies, mortgage companies and other financial services firms. As in-house counsel at both Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo, he regularly handled complex federal and state regulatory issues involving consumer credit, fair lending, mortgage lending, banking, Patriot Act, E-Sign Act and other areas. At Sallie Mae, he represented private education, mortgage banking and financial subsidiaries, and served as general counsel to the bank subsidiary, establishing operating policies and procedures and successfully lobbying the Utah legislature to amend the Utah Consumer Credit Code. At Wells Fargo, where he led the private education credit practice, he drafted and negotiated contracts governing all aspects of the practice area’s business, including business acquisition and information technology agreements, and designed and implemented compliance and training programs.
Most recently, Mr. Campbell was an attorney at B Compliant, Inc., a Virginia based law practice dedicated to serving the mortgage banking and financial services industry. At that firm he developed educational and training materials for mortgage lenders and loan officers, covering traditional and nontraditional mortgage products, predatory lending, and federal and state law compliance issues.
"Andrew Campbell is a tremendous addition to our Financial Institutions practice," said Frank Bonaventure, chair of that group. “His regulatory background adds to our already robust capabilities, and his experience as in-house counsel at prestigious financial institutions makes our practice group an even stronger cost-effective alternative to our clients who need general counsel services.”
Andrew Campbell is a graduate of LeMoyne College (BA with honors) and The Catholic University Law School (JD).
