Health Lawyer Sollins Appointed to AHCA Legal Committee

BALTIMORE, MD – February 14, 2012 The law firm Ober|Kaler announced that Howard L. Sollins, a principal in the firm’s Health Law practice, has been appointed to the Legal Committee of the American Health Care Association (AHCA).
A health lawyer for over three decades, Mr. Sollins represents a broad range of health care providers and practitioners, vendors and suppliers in matters involving federal and state regulations; Medicare, Medicaid and other reimbursement; business transactions and contracts; licensing, survey and certification; certificate of need; fraud and abuse; corporate compliance; and e-health and technology. He has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Super Lawyers.
Mr. Sollins is also co-creator of www.marylandadvancedirectives.com, a website developed in collaboration with the Maryland Attorney General's office that is a resource for health care facilities and practitioners who need to provide care that complies with the Maryland Health Care Decision Act.
The nation’s largest association of long term and post-acute care providers, the AHCA advocates for quality care and services for frail, elderly and disabled Americans. Its members provide essential care to approximately one million individuals in 11,000 not-for-profit and proprietary member facilities.
The Legal Committee advises the AHCA in legal issues and litigation relating to the delivery of long term care consistent with its Strategic Plan, using its collective perspective and expertise to examine and advise on legal issues that could potentially affect AHCA and the entire long term care community. The Committee also fulfills an educational role, distributing information on legal trends and developments affecting the interest of the long term care community.
