Jim Wieland "Outstanding Physician Practice Lawyer"

BALTIMORE - April 18, 2006 Ober|Kaler principal James B. Wieland has been named among the nation's "Outstanding Physician Practice Lawyers - 2006" by Nightingale's Healthcare News. He was one of ten attorneys selected from a pool of national candidates.

With an extensive national practice and more than 30 years of health law experience, Mr. Wieland, 57, works with physicians and physician groups in the planning and implementation of collaborative transactions such as mergers, affiliations, joint ventures, and networks.

Mr. Wieland is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School (J.D., 1974) and University of Minnesota (B.A., 1970).

His recent activities include an appointment by Governor Rt Ehrlich to the Maryland legislature's Task Force to Study Electronic Health Records and an invitation to serve on the editorial board for the Health Information Management Manual, by Aspen Publishers. Mr. Wieland served on the American Health Lawyers Association board of directors and its predecessor entity from 1993 to 1999.

Mr. Wieland lives in Greenspring Valley.
