Ober|Kaler Leads the Best Lawyers in America List

BALTIMORE November 5, 2004 The 2005-2006 edition of "The Best Lawyers in America" has just been released. Ober|Kaler once again dominates the Maryland construction health, and maritime sections. "We are proud of the recognition these attorneys have received," commented Ober|Kaler President and COO S. Craig Holden. "Fewer than 3% of all attorneys in the country are selected for this honor. That fourteen Ober|Kaler lawyers are recognized reflects the standard of excellence held by all of our attorneys."

Recognized for their depth of experience and knowledge in the area of health care are Ober|Kaler's Health Law department chair Sanford V. Teplitzky, Leonard C. Homer, and Howard L. Sollins. These attorneys have been listed in "The Best Lawyers in America," for more than ten years. All are resident in the firm's Baltimore office. New to this year's list are Washington, D.C. office Health Law attorneys Thomas K. Hyatt, Patrick K. O'Hare and Martha P. Rogers who was also selected for her work in Criminal Defense.

Recognized for their significant contribution in the area of maritime law are Admiralty Group practice chair M. Hamilton Whitman, Jr. and Donald C. Greenman. They have been included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for more than ten years. Both practice in the firm's Baltimore office.

Construction Group practice chair John A. Wolf and Joseph C. Kovars were again recognized by their peers for their outstanding legal skill as Construction Law attorneys.

Ober|Kaler Trusts & Estates department chair Donald R. Mering was also selected for this issue. Mr. Mering has been present in each issue of "The Best Lawyers in America" since 1993.

E. Scott Johnson, of the firm’s Baltimore office is recognized for his work in Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property, and Carlyle C. Ring, Jr., resident in Ober|Kaler’s Washington, DC office is noted for his work in Cyber Law.

Frank C. Bonaventure, who recently handled the legal matters for Maryland’s first banker's bank, Maryland Financial Bank, was selected for his work in Financial Institutions and Transactions Law. Mr. Bonaventure co-chairs the firm's Business & Tax Department and resides in its Baltimore office.

"The Best Lawyers in America" is the collaborative effort of Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Steve Naifeh and Greg Smith. Inclusion in the publication is the culmination of an extensive nationwide survey based on a peer-review evaluation.
