Current Grant Recipients
The recipients of the 2013 Ober|Kaler Community Grants are:
- The Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children has been awarded a grant for its Educational and Life Skills Field Trips program. Located in Rockville, Maryland, the Lourie Center helps elementary age children who have severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. The grant will help 40 children with in house and off site field trips focusing on educational and social/emotional objectives.
- Courtney’s House will be funded for its Drop-in Center, which provides a safe place for minors who are survivors of domestic sex trafficking in the Washington, DC area. The funds will also assist with the group’s street outreach efforts.
- The Village Learning Place was chosen for its program “LINK” (Let’s Invest in Neighbor Kids). The program helps at-risk students in pre-K through 8th grade from the Charles Village/Barclay neighborhoods of Baltimore with reading, character education and nutrition in an after school and summer program. In addition to awarding the grant, employees of the firm will volunteer their time to LINK.
- HOPE (Helping Orphans Prosper Everywhere) has been awarded a grant for its Help the Children Program. This grant will be used to supply 300 low income, disabled and homeless children in Baltimore with backpacks filled with school supplies. It will also pay for 200 girls to be Girl Scouts.
