Health Care Construction
Ober|Kaler's Health Care Construction Practice is a cross-disciplinary team that draws on our attorneys' nationally recognized expertise in three critical areas — health care, construction and construction insurance. We understand the unique circumstances that health care providers need to address when developing, insuring and constructing a facility. Team members include a former general counsel/associate general counsel for a large hospital system, with in-the-trenches experience managing hundreds of millions of dollars in new hospital construction; hospital renovations, administrative office build outs; and physician office buildings. These attorneys are adept at identifying and addressing the unique needs health care providers face in navigating evolving regulatory, contracting, financing, design, procurement and construction processes.
Our construction group includes attorneys with decades of experience negotiating construction contracts in the health care industry, resolving claims, and handling significant litigation involving delays, defects, and other issues that can arise during and after construction. To this team, we have added construction insurance coverage expertise in front-end negotiation and placement for significant construction throughout the United States, including major medical facilities, as well as a policyholder-only insurance litigation practice
Our experience includes both new construction and the expansion and renovation of existing facilities. Ober|Kaler’s health care team has experience on projects involving hospital campuses and hospital/university joint venture developments, along with independent, assisted living, skilled nursing and life care communities. Our clients also include pharmaceutical companies, medical laboratories and research institutions.
