Medicare
Modernization Act

The Medicare Prescription Drug and Modernization Act of 2003, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush, contains some of the most sweeping and expansive changes to the Medicare law since it was enacted. Ober|Kaler lawyers are preparing analyses of its key provisions. Once completed, our analysis will be organized by entity affected (e.g., hospital, nursing home, physician, etc.). We will offer a description of the new law; effective date; whether implementing regulations will be required; and the significance to you.

We anticipate that this will be only the first of the implementation steps that will be evolving in the coming months. Our website will house a repository of documents, links and guiding materials intended to assist in understanding, tracking and implementing the new law in a useful way. We urge you to revisit this portion of our website periodically over the coming months.

As a first step, we have prepared a reference to some of the documents we think are initially most important to you. If you have questions or comments, please contact the attorney in our Health Law Group with whom you are already in communication or send us a general inquiry at info@ober.com. Media inquiries are directed to our Health Law Group Co-chair, Sanford V. Teplitzky. Sandy can be contacted at 410-230-7164 or teplitzky@ober.com.
