Welcome to the latest Construction OberView. Included in this issue are articles that focus on two of the hottest topics for the construction industry, and for American business as a whole: the effect of electronic documentation on business record-keeping-particularly when a business subsequently becomes embroiled in litigation, and compliance with immigration laws through verification of employment eligibility. We also include an article that examines recent court decisions that will require strict compliance with payment bond obligations by sureties themselves, and that highlight the perils of non-compliance.
Construction OberView readers will be pleased to know that Governor O'Malley signed House Bill 1143 relieving the 3% withholding requirement from general contractors. More on that story appears on page 4.
As always, any and all feedback would be appreciated; we look forward to hearing from you.
