BALTIMORE – June 3, 2005 Ober|Kaler president and Health Law principal S. Craig Holden was selected for Nightingale's Healthcare News “Outstanding Fraud & Compliance Lawyers 2005” list. Chosen from a pool of other nationally recognized candidates, Mr. Holden was nominated for the list by clients and colleagues. Since joining the firm in 1987, Mr. Holden has focused exclusively on fraud and abuse and compliance issues. His national reputation as a leading expert in Medicare and Medicaid anti-fraud and abuse laws has lead to his involvement in some of the most important health care investigations in the country. Mr. Holden has extensive experience reviewing business arrangements for compliance and developing creative solutions that ensure compliance. He represents health care providers in criminal prosecutions, civil actions under the False Claims Act, and in administrative proceedings involving civil monetary penalties or exclusion actions. Considered an industry thought leader, Mr. Holden is frequently quoted in the media as a leading voice on fraud and abuse matters. His work is widely published in national health association and trade journals and he is author or co-author of several books including Anti-Fraud and Abuse: A Guide for Labs and M.D.s, Medicare and Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, and Health Law Handbook. Mr. Holden is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Law (JD, with high honors, 1980) and The Catholic University of America (BA, magna cum laude, 1976).
