WASHINGTON, D.C. — July 14, 2008 John J. Miles, a principal in Ober|Kaler's Health Law Group, has authored the fourth edition of Fundamentals of Healthcare Law. Released earlier this month by American Health Lawyers Association, the publication is designed to provide a general overview of health law practice issues in one concise volume. Fundamentals of Healthcare Law is a resource for new practitioners, as well as veteran attorneys entering their first years of health law practice. With more than thirty years experience in antitrust matters, Mr. Miles focuses his practice primarily on health care sector clients including hospitals, health systems, hospital networks, large physician practices, and physician networks. Mr. Miles is a well-recognized author, speaker and presenter of healthcare antitrust law. In addition to Fundamentals of Healthcare Law, he wrote and continues to update a five-volume treatise on health care antitrust law. Prior to private practice, Mr. Miles was a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, where he was the recipient of a special commendation award from the Attorney General for serving as lead counsel in the government's first successful challenge of a hospital merger. Mr. Miles is the former Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association’s Antitrust Practice Group and a Vice Chair of the ABA Antitrust Law Section's Health Care Committee. Mr. Miles is a graduate of Virginia Tech (B.S., 1968, M.A. 1971) and Washington and Lee University (J.D., magna cum laude, 1973). He resides in Alexandria, Virginia. About Ober|Kaler |
