Chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Group, Scott has a diverse practice that includes licensing, trademark, copyright, technology, Internet, entertainment, arts and media law matters. He counsels individuals, companies, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions on a wide range of intellectual property matters.

Scott was profiled as one of Baltimore's top attorneys in the April 2003 issue of Baltimore Magazine and named one of Baltimore's 115 best lawyers in the magazine's May 1995 issue. He was listed in "Who’s Who in Intellectual Property Law" in the December 2000 issue of the Baltimore Business Journal, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in two categories: Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law. He was also selected for Maryland Super Lawyers, 2008.

Scott reviews and prepares Internet-related agreements and evaluates trade practices, including legal aspects of advertising and Internet marketing. His work in the IT and in other technology fields includes legal aspects of joint ventures, software development and licensing, research and development and sponsored research agreements.

His work in the entertainment and media fields includes the preparation and negotiation of film and television production and co production agreements, recording contracts, personal management agreements, music publishing agreements, production agreements, video/film synchronization licenses, book publishing contracts, public art commissions and rights clearance, fair use and new media issues.
