Patrick is a principal in Ober|Kaler's Washington, D.C. office where he focuses on health care transactions, business and tax planning, structuring joint ventures and other relationships among hospitals and between physicians and hospitals, and the general representation of nonprofit corporations and charities. Patrick also is a member of the firm's Nonprofits Group.
Except for a short stint in the Environmental Protection Agency's General Counsel's Office, Patrick has focused his practice on health care and nonprofit law since the late 1970's. Patrick's practice is national in scope and consists primarily of representing hospitals, hospital systems, long term care providers and physician groups in the planning and implementation of collaborative transactions such as acquisitions, mergers, affiliations, joint ventures, and networks. He is experienced in designing and structuring such transactions in conformance with relevant laws and regulations, negotiating the transactions, preparing necessary documents, and counseling on the transactions' implementation and operations thereafter. He also serves as general counsel to several national charities.
